It s best to use a commercial product to seal your granite to ensure they are adequately protected. It s ideal for cleaning granite and a number of other household surfaces that need gentle care. It was likely sealed when it was installed but some kinds of granite need to be resealed at regular intervals.

So the porosity or absorbency of your granite is a key factor in determining how much a sealer can improve the stain resistance of your countertop. Unlike with the cleaner there is no diy homemade granite sealer that you can use. Do make sure your granite countertops are properly sealed. On the other hand if your granite takes 10 minutes to stain initially then just one coat of sealer may extend that time to 30 minutes or more.

Despite what some experts might suggest it s not always necessary to seal your granite countertops at the end of each year. A granite sealer is what makes the surface shiny. The stone s absorption rate and the type and quality of any granite sealer you ve previously used plays an important role in determining how often you ll need to reseal your countertops. We recommend using 2 parts vinegar and 1 part water to clean your granite marble.
